CALM THE STORM

The human life is characterized by storms (challenges) and from the first gulf of air a new born takes in, it starts crying, signifying a life of challenges.

In Meteorology, a storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow. This is exactly what the disciples of Jesus faced at the lake while Jesus was asleep as they journeyed from Galilee to the country of the Gadarenes.

The storm in the lives of believers are not necessarily winds, thunder or lightning, but challenges that come at certain instances in life. These storms may be financial, marital, family, educational, psychological and so on (you can list a few for yourself in the space above).

Take a deep breath and say “Am going to calm the storm now”.

Let’s consider 4 very important components of the solution Jesus used to calm the storm.

First of all, Jesus AROSE. Remember that he was sleeping before the scenario. You may have been sleeping before a challenge came, but you need to ARISE. Stop sleeping, arise and shine. Jesus did not remain in sleep to attack the storm, he got up.

Secondly, Jesus rebuked the wind and the raging water. He spoke words against the wind and water. Don’t be the kind of Christian who’ll face a challenge and yet don’t pray or speak words of power against the challenge. Don’t sit expecting a change without talking. If the Monarch of the universe could create all that is by His Word, you have the ability to speak positivism into any situation. No wonder OPTIMISTICALLY MAKES YOU OPTIMISTIC. I show you the positive side of everything!

Thirdly, Jesus Himself was calm; he did not panic. To calm the storm (challenge) you must be calm. You don’t let yourself be moved by what you see with your optical eyes but be moved by what you perceive in your spirit. Jesus wasn’t moved by the raging waters and the turbulent winds. He focused on his inner man and drew out the boldness from within to calm the storm.

Lastly, Jesus exercised tremendous faith. No wonder he was surprised at his disciples and asked “Where is your faith?” This implies He had his own faith intact.

Consider and ponder over the above components and use this recipe to calm the storm. YOU’RE A STORM CALMER!
